Calf roping is an event born on the ranches of the Old West. Calves were roped and tied
down to be doctored and branded. Today, the rodeo cowboy ropes the calf from his horse,
dismounts, runs down the rope, and flanks and ties any three legs with a "piggin string".
The action is incredibly fast. The NFR arena record is 6.8 seconds.
